Donald Trump and George Santos have made lying great again, at least to some. But why is the media following suit, failing to fact check nuclear falsehoods? This has also translated to Germany, where its renewable energy success story has been obliterated by pro-nuclear propaganda.

Not carbon-free but obsolete

The media describes the new Vogtle reactors as ‘carbon-free’ and a nuclear ‘comeback’. Neither are true. Vogtle is a $35 billion extravaganza that is still fleecing ratepayers even before achieving full power. And nuclear power is more expensive and takes longer to arrive than ever. In Finland just this week, the newest reactor there was immediately rendered uneconomical as abundant wind power plunged electricity prices. READ MORE

Well on the way

Even before closing its last three reactors, Germany had brought on more solar energy than ever and will continue on that trend. Despite efforts in the press to suggest Germany’s nuclear shutdown had torpedoed its green energy revolution, it was France that saw its power prices soar to more than twice as high as Germany’s, due to the winter collapse of its nuclear power sector. READ MORE
