Posted: 3rd November 2023

Dear friends of Nukewatch,

We are reaching out to you, because we are looking for group endorsers of the following working papers on policy recommendations of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons that will be submitted next week to the United Nations through ICAN. Due to strict word limitations, we divided our paper into 2 working papers.

Working Paper 1: Policy Recommendations on National Plans. It highlights to ensure equity, accessibility, transparency, and inclusion for affected communities impacted by radioactive violence. Full text is here. Summary is attached to this email. To endorse please fill out Google Form.

Working Paper 2: Policy Recommendations on Trust Fund (with anti-corruption policies), International Cooperation, Preamble (to delete the language that upholds nuclear energy). Full text is here. Summary is attached. To endorse please fill out Google Form.

These policy papers were written by me, with thoughtful insights and suggestions from the following members of the Affected Communities and Allies Working Group: Petuuche Gilbert, Leona Morgan, Yukiyo Kawano, Michel Lee, Kelly Lundeen, and Joan Seeman.

If your group is interested in being listed as an endorsing group, please fill out the Google Form by Tuesday, November 7, 2023.  Should you have any questions, please contact Mari Inoue at [email protected].

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Mari Inoue
