Wages not Weapons: Help Stop a new Nuclear Arms Race

I’m writing to ask if you can donate to our annual winter appeal and help stop a new nuclear arms race.

The government is in the process of replacing its nuclear weapons system, Trident, and increasing the number of warheads in its arsenal.

This at a time when the country is at breaking point after years of underfunding of public services, and global tensions are the highest they have been for decades.

We need to raise around £31,000 for essential core campaigning costs if we’re to meet these challenges – can you help with a donation?

CND relies on the generosity of people like you to cover core costs. For instance, your donation could help keep the CND phone line open so those who are deeply concerned about nuclear war can make contact with us.

With your help, we’ve been able to keep the issue of nuclear weapons in the public eye despite a government that would prefer to keep the public in the dark and the media largely compliant.

We know people are behind us, but there’s still a struggle ahead in 2024. The replacement of the UK’s nuclear weapons, the nuclear arsenal increase, and the uniquely dangerous geopolitical situation brought about by the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, are all contributing to a new nuclear arms race.

By supporting our work with a donation you can help us challenge government and make sure everyone is aware of the dangers facing us all.

Please, if you can, donate today and help fund our campaigning through 2024.

Your help with anything you can manage – every last pound counts – will be received with enormous gratitude. Thank you.

In peace,

Kate Hudson

General Secretary

P.S. Your help is crucial right now to enable us to raise £31,000 to put our plans in action for our new budget year that starts 1st January 2024. The government must be urgently challenged on their plans to spend hundreds of £billions on nuclear weapons while the cost of living crisis threatens so many of us. Please donate if you can.
