Be Part of Tomorrow’s Global Day of Action:
Stop Bombing Gaza – Stop Bombing Yemen!
Tomorrow we’ll be back on the streets of London to demand a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to Israeli occupation and to say no to the bombing of Yemen. Last night, the US and UK took the decision to carry out extensive bombing raids in the country, striking more than 60 targets in 16 locations, some with cruise missiles. These attacks threaten to lead to a wider war throughout the region and the unelected Sunak’s backing of this incendiary move with no recourse to parliament is nothing short of a disgrace.
Stop the War Coalition & Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament released a joint statement earlier today:
The attack is on missile sites used by the Houthis, who have been attacking and disrupting shipping in the Red Sea in support of the Palestinians. Their actions reflect the levels of discontent across the Middle East at the genocidal attacks by Israel. The Houthis are allied to Iran and the danger is that war will spread there, with devastating consequences.
The Houthis have made clear that they will stop these attacks if there is a ceasefire in Gaza. The US and UK governments should be demanding that Israel stops its attacks and implements a ceasefire, rather than bombing a very poor country. These strikes make our protests here and calls for ceasefire even more vital.
Tomorrow’s Ceasefire Now – Stop the War on Gaza demonstration is set to be very large. It is part of a global day of action for Gaza in which movements in at least 45 countries are participating. Taking place against the background of further attacks on Gaza, widening war in the Middle East and the international criminal court case against Israel, it could hardly be more important.
The march will assemble at Bank Circus in London’s financial heartland at midday and march to the capital’s political centre in Whitehall. Such is the expected turnout, there will be two stages at the end, one in Parliament Square and one in Trafalgar Square. There will be a great line-up of speakers on both stages.
The suggested drop off points for coaches are Bishopsgate and London Wall and the best pick up point is Victoria Embankment. It is set to be cold so we urge everyone to wrap up well and bring flasks of warm drink!
We look forward to seeing you on what will be a massive protest against the Israeli genocide and our government’s collusion.
