The Government’s anti-protest laws are no joke.
We took to the streets to hear exactly what people have to say about them…
Protest isn’t a gift from the State – it’s our right.
And from votes for women to Pride, the UK has a rich history of protests that have driven positive change in society.
But the Government is clamping down on the ways we speak up on important issues. Recently, it has given police dangerously broad powers to shut down protests and arrest demonstrators.
These powers risk criminalising anyone who takes to the streets for a cause they believe in – from racial justice campaigners to environmental activists to grieving families calling for answers and justice.
The Government is doing this to hide from its own failings. For the same reason, they’ve created new laws to try and stop workers from striking and block countless people from voting.
These laws have been created to silence us, protect the powerful and prevent meaningful change. History shows when we join together and make ourselves heard, bit by bit we change things for the better.
Sign our petition to protect our right to protest in 2024.
Along with our friends from Amnesty International, we’re calling for the Government to scrap the anti-protest measures in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 and the Public Order Act 2023.
Sign the petition to get on board with the campaign.
Best wishes,
