ICJ Defeat for Israel – Let’s Keep Campaigning
Today’s ICJ ruling is a defeat for Israel and one which British politicians must take heed of. The order that the Israeli government must take action to prevent acts of genocide is hugely significant. It is a total embarrassment for the handful of governments, including our own, that support Israel. After today’s ruling there is absolutely no way that they can justify sending any more arms to Israel.
The ruling should also serve as a shot in the arm to millions across the world who support freedom and justice for the Palestinians. This decision is in part due to our actions. Let’s keep going.
On Sunday, we’re holding a London Anti-War Convention to assess the repercussions of the ICJ’s ruling, the continuing campaign for an immediate ceasefire and the widening war in the Middle East. It’s a vital opportunity to examine how the anti-war movement can rise to these challenges. Make sure you’re part of it.
Speakers include Jeremy Corbyn MP, Daniel Kebede (NEU Gen Sec), writer and academic Ghada Kharmi, StWC’s John Rees, Claudia Webbe MP, Richard Boyd-Barrett (TD for Dun Laoghaire), Andrew Feinstein (Shadow World) and more.
The world wants an immediate end to the genocide and we congratulate the South African government for representing the will of the people. However, the ICJ’s ruling does fall short of calling for an immediate ceasefire which is so desperately needed. We have to keep up the pressure from the streets.
To do that we need another huge turnout on the streets of London next Saturday (3 Feb). Assemble: 12pm @ BBC, Portland Place, W1A 1AA. Be there.
#StandWithGaza Workplace Day of Action – Weds 7th Feb

The day is now also being supported by PSC, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Muslim Association of Britain and Palestine Forum of Britain. It’s shaping up to be the biggest and most effective workplace day of action yet.

We want to hear what you’ve got planned so please send details of your action to [email protected] as soon as you can.
