World Beyond War 2023 annual report

Thanks in large part to you, World BEYOND War made incredible strides in 2023! It is not lost on us, however, that as we report on the expanded work our team has accomplished, it signals an increased proliferation of war and military preparations. That was unfortunately the case in 2023 as we’ve witnessed catastrophic damage and carnage which continues this year. In response to this, we have expanded programming, ramped up our global team, and fostered our resolve to end the violence and shift the narrative of our global reliance on it. We are more motivated and determined than ever, and we appreciate you joining us in this difficult work.

With a lot of work ahead of us and two big wars continuing into this year — in Ukraine and in Palestine — we have a lot of work to do in growing opposition to them. But we also have a lot to celebrate. In 2023, World BEYOND War turned 10! Looking back, we’ve educated huge numbers of people about peaceful alternatives. We’ve played a leading role in passing resolutions, in divesting funds from weaponry, in preventing the construction of new military bases. We’ve built a large and growing community of informed global citizens working together, strategically, and cooperatively for steps away from the institution of war and toward a sustainable world. We aim to do much more each year than the year before and 2024 is no exception. But we need your help.

We appreciate you following along, making donations, signing our petitions, showing up to events, engaging in webinar and course discussions, reading books from our book club, participating in actions, making protest signs, sharing our social posts and media pieces, growing our chapters, spreading the word about the work we’re doing, signing our Peace Pledge, and standing up to say ‘NO MORE TO WAR!’. Abolishing the war machine war is not a singular effort and instead, requires all of us to work together in a multitude of ways in order to resonate with and move our global community to action.
