Nominations of Policies for
Peace and Future Generations

Nominations are now open for the Future Policy Award 2024, a high-level prize conferred by the World Future Council, to celebrate policies which are making an impact on key global issues for current and future generations.

We need effective peace policies now more than ever before. 

The world is facing the largest number of armed conflicts since 1946, with a quarter of the world’s population living in conflict-affected areas. More than 170,000 lives were lost to war and violent conflicts last year, and a record 114 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution and human rights violations.
  

Future Policy Award 2024: Effective policies for peace

There are effective policies implemented by governments, usually through advocacy of legislators and civil society, to resolve conflicts peacefully, prevent war and achieve a sustainable and inclusive peace. We invite you to help us find and celebrate these policies. The Future Policy Award 2024 will showcase the best of these as examples and stimulus for additional governments to adopt.

Laws, policies and frameworks suitable for nomination can be national, subnational, regional or local in nature. They may originate from various sectors including education, environment, development, foreign affairs, defense, democratic governance, policing, constitutional reform, economic management and human rights including women, children and minority rights.

Future Policy Award Ceremony: A high-level event

The winning policies will be announced and celebrated in late 2024 at a high-level ceremony with legislators, government officials and representatives of international bodies and civil society organizations. Previous ceremonies have been held at the United Nations or at assemblies of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Successful peace policies are crucial to reducing conflict across the globe and eliminating senseless, widespread suffering.
