The Prime Minister has just claimed the UK has descended into “mob rule” – in a provocative attack on people exercising their fundamental right to protest.
From votes for women to Pride, the UK has a rich history of protests that have driven positive change in society.
We need to call out the Prime Minister’s inflammatory language and stand up for our right to speak out and challenge injustice.

Rishi Sunak has accused protesters of shutting down free debate. But it’s the Government that is the real danger to protest rights.
Over the past two years, the Government has given police sweeping powers to arrest people who take to the streets for causes they believe in.
Now more than ever it is vital we bring people together. But Sunak’s deliberately divisive and dangerous rhetoric will simply have the opposite effect.
Over the years, protest has held the powerful to account and changed society for the better. It’s vital that we speak out for our protest rights.
We are calling for the repeal of the Policing Act and Public Order Act, laws designed to silence us and protect the powerful.
