Fourteenth Salisbury Ceasefire Vigil 9.3.24

Posted: 9th March 2024

Again a growing number of people, about 70 this time, gathered outside Salisbury Library to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank Palestinian Territories.

This weekend’s vigil concentrated on the appalling death toll amongst the children of the region.  Figures suggest at least one child dies every 15 minutes at the moment.  This is totally unacceptable.  In the name of humanity, it must stop.

Children’s shoes were put out to bring home something of the reality of these tragic losses.  Each child who died was loved by their family and this is something we all relate to at a very profound level.

We hope this short video captures something of the mood of our vigil this week: https://youtu.be/xTd7qgH00A4

There are pictures from tonight’s vigil below, together with the News Release that we prepared.  The Salisbury Journal’s coverage of events can be seen here; https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/24182484.salisbury-protest-calls-permanent-gaza-ceasefire/

A house key was found as we cleared up after the vigil.  Please contact Salisbury CND if it was yours!
