This week we remember the terrible events of March 11, 2011 when the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant began its triple meltdown and the lessons this should have taught us. And we give a rather half-hearted one thumb up to the flash “Make Nukes History” campaign in Hollywood over the weekend, timed to highlight the lessons of the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer film.

Some high-profile Hollywood names signed onto a letter calling for an end to nuclear weapons, using the opportunity of the Oscar buzz around the film Oppenheimer. But the group behind the letter is the Nuclear Threat Initiative, whose board, including its CEO, former Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, fervently promotes nuclear power, thus guaranteeing the continued spread of nuclear weapons. Japan tempts a new disaster
