Members of Salisbury CND joined protesters from around the country, together with those from France, Japan and Finland to block access to AWE Burghfield today. The protest was successful, with two gates being sealed by protesters locked together. A third entrance was severely restricted by protesters watched over by a large force of police. The peaceful protest sought to highlight the folly of the policy for Trident replacement, which comes before Parliament in 2016. The estimated cost of £100 billion is equivalent to giving every human being on the planet the sum of £14.
