Will you join us on Saturday when we take to the streets of London for our national demonstration for Palestine?

Posted: 17th May 2024

Throughout this week we have been writing to you about the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, when 750,000 Palestinians were driven from their homes. We have asked you to take action in your workplace, to write to lobby your MP, to support the inspiring student encampments, and to attend our powerful online Nakba commemoration. Thank you for everything you have done.

We end the week with a simple request: will you join us on Saturday when we take to the streets of London for our national demonstration for Palestine?

Newcastle PSC action to commemorate the Nakba: Angel of the North

The Nakba is not merely history: 76 years on, Israel’s violence and oppression against the Palestinian people has not stopped. Palestinians who were themselves displaced, and the children and grandchildren of those violently expelled, make up 70% of the population of the Gaza Strip who for more than seven months have endured Israel’s genocidal onslaught.

The anniversary of the Nakba provides a moment for us to raise awareness of the true context to Israel’s current genocidal actions and to take inspiration from the decades of Palestinian resistance to exile, occupation, and apartheid.

The struggle of the Palestinian people continues to galvanise millions who believe in the universal principles of freedom and justice around the world.

The national demonstration this Saturday – 18 May – is part of a Global Day of Action involving hundreds of cities across all six continents. It will be led by British Palestinians carrying symbolic keys to represent the enduring Palestinian right to return to their homeland.

Spread the word about the march for Palestine

Join the national demonstration in London this Saturday to commemorate the ongoing Nakba, to demand an immediate ceasefire and an end to all arms sales to Israel, and to add your voice to the growing global movement for freedom and justice for the Palestinian people.

In solidarity,

Peter Leary,

Deputy Director, PSC
