Last night over 10,000 people gathered outside Downing Street in an emergency response to Israel’s barbaric attack on Rafah. The scenes that emerged after Israel’s bombing of the Rafah refugee camp will forever be seared into the memories of those who saw them.Yesterday, we sent the message loud and clear to our government and the Labour leadership – end your complicity by ending Britain’s arms trade with Israel.
This Saturday 1 June, there are actions across cities, towns and villages organised by PSC branches to build support for this demand. Will you join your local action?
Then, the following Saturday 8 June, we march through London once again as part of a national demonstration for Palestine. Save the date and make preparations to attend.
Since 2015, the UK has approved the export of at least £474 million worth of arms to Israeli forces, including components for fighter jets, bombs, missiles, and armoured drones. Because of the opacity of Britain’s arms export regime, the true figure is likely to be significantly higher.
In addition, banks headquartered in Britain, like Barclays, finance the deadly arms trade. Our research has uncovered that Barclays holds over £2bn in shares, and provides over £6.1bn in financial services, to companies arming Israel. This includes investing in Elbit Systems, which supplies Israel with armoured drones, munitions and artillery weapons used in its devastating attacks.
Will you join your local action this Saturday 1 June calling on the British government and Barclays to stop arming Israel immediately?
See you on the streets of your local town, city or village this Saturday, and then again on London on 8 June for the national demonstration.
Thanks for everything you do.
In solidarity,
Celie
