Dear friends,
Welcome to the second instalment of the new Space Watch newsletter – this time with updates on Keep Space for Peace Week actions, a network meeting in November, and our latest blog posts.
Keep Space for Peace Week, 5th-12th October
As the summer draws to a close (sorry!), we are looking ahead to October and 2024’s Keep Space for Peace Week – an annual week of coordinated campaigning to call for a halt to the militarisation of space worldwide.
On Wednesday the 9th of October, Space Watch and its partners will be taking their demands to Whitehall. All are invited to join us outside the Ministry of Defence (opposite Downing Street) from 12-1pm. More details will be circulated nearer the time.
Meanwhile, if you are planning a local action or event for the week, we want to hear from you! Be sure to get in touch at [email protected], so we can ensure details are included on our website and in next month’s email.
Save the date: Space Watch UK network meeting, 19th November
After the success of July’s partner meeting, we have scheduled our next for Tuesday the 19th of November at 7pm. Watch out for a Zoom link in October’s newsletter!
New articles on the Space Watch blog
The Space Watch UK blog is updated with news, research and analysis from our staff team. This month, we examine the possibility of satellite launches from UK spaceports, the ongoing development of secretive ‘space drones’ by the US and China, and opposition to the construction of a US military space radar in Pembrokeshire.
As always, you can get in touch with us at [email protected], or visit our website for more information, resources, and news on the campaign.
