Earlier this week, the Metropolitan Police announced its intention to impose unreasonable restrictions to disrupt our national march for Palestine tomorrow. With less than 24 hours to go, the police have backed down. We now need people to turn out in huge numbers – will you join us at 12 noon at Regent Street St James’s to march to the Israeli Embassy?
Following a week of argument, with attempts to bully and intimidate the demonstration organisers, the police have now agreed that protesters will assemble from 12noon as usual.
This debacle has caused serious disruption to our organising efforts. The constant imposition of conditions on our marches are an unacceptable curtailment of our right to demonstrate peacefully and we will continue to challenge them. Nevertheless, this is a major victory in defence of our democratic right to protest. We are thankful to everyone in the movement who has stood firm in the face of these threats.
The use of repressive tactics shows that our demonstrations are working. They will only serve to make us more determined.
We must now keep up the momentum and increase the pressure we have already brought to bear on the government, institutions, and companies for their disgraceful complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people. We need as many people as possible out on the streets of London tomorrow – please share the details far and wide!
We will not be distracted. We will not cease marching until Israel’s genocide is stopped, its illegal occupation has ended, and its system of apartheid is dismantled.
Join us tomorrow from 12noon at Regent Street St James’s.
Free Palestine!
In solidarity,
Celie
