Today we shared that we have seen testimony from three Palestinian civilians who allege Israeli troops interrogated them about the location of hostages and tunnels while under extreme torture.
Campaigners we’ve spoken to fear Britain’s military could be receiving intelligence from Israel that was obtained under torture. Any sharing of such intelligence with Britain would breach rules designed to prevent a repeat of the extraordinary rendition scandal, which saw MI6 collude with CIA abuses after 9/11.
As you’re no doubt aware, last week Keir Starmer suspended some arms exports to Israel, partly due to “credible claims of the mistreatment of detainees”. Yet the RAF have continued near daily surveillance flights over Gaza, sharing information with Israel in an attempt to locate hostages.
Reporter Hamza Yusuf and editor Phil Miller have spoken with lawyers from Al-Haq and Global Legal Action Network as well as campaigners from Freedom from Torture. Be sure to read the full article here.
Any support you can offer, such as following us on YouTube or Instagram, sharing our articles or giving a monthly donation will help us publish important information about the UK’s involvement in Israel’s war on Gaza. We know the public want to know more.
Best wishes,
