As we watched one closed nuclear power plant get flooded, we are duly warned that keeping the others running - whether coastal or inland - not to mention building new ones, is a reckless and needless energy strategy that must immediately be abandoned. Eco-theater has much to teach us
Musicals like Hadestown and Urinetown(pictured) can communicate profound environmental loss and the horrors of over-industrialization. Redwood reminds us of the commitment made by Julia Butterfly Hill who spent 738 days in a California redwood tree to protest logging of old-growth forests. Theater may have as much to teach us as lectures and long reports but stage productions also need to be mindful of waste.READ MORE
