Government whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg once said “No Randy Kehler, no Pentagon Papers.” Kehler, who died in July, was a man of principle who disavowed war and withheld the taxes that pay for it. Aaron Falbel writes a tribute. (Note: there will be no Beyond Nuclear International Digest next week.)

Randy Kehler was a principal organizer around the Nuclear Freeze movement during the Cold War. He and his wife Betsy Corner also decided to withhold paying taxes as long as these were to be used for war. While not everyone agreed with his politics and strategies, writes Aaron Falbel who knew Kehler, everyone loved him for his humanitarianism, integrity and courage while also admiring his commitment to non-violence.
