The nuclear debate inside Iran is likely to shift towards the possession of its own weapons if the west goes ahead with a threat to reimpose all UN sanctions, the country’s foreign minister has said.

Iran has informed the UN nuclear watchdog of plans to install more uranium-enriching centrifuges at its Fordow and Natanz plants as well as bring machines recently installed there online, a confidential report by the watchdog said on Thursday. The report to member states seen by Reuters details what Iran has told the International Atomic Energy Agency it plans to do, though it has done little to follow through so far, having pledged to add thousands of centrifuges after a resolution against Iran by the 35-nation IAEA board of governors.
