Hinkley C Strike

Posted: 3rd December 2024

HUNDREDS of Hinkley Point C workers who downed tools last week over unresolved concerns have attended a meeting today at Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Football Club. Around 1,600 MEH workers at one of the largest construction sites in Europe walked out on Thursday, November 28, 2024, claiming their action concerns fingerprint scanners in a small area on site – a claim EDF refutes. Workers had stated that they originally intended to participate in full strike action on Monday, December 2, 2024. One worker, who wished to remain anonymous, said that they had turned up at the construction site this morning and “our site passes are blocked.” A spokesperson for EDF said: ““Along with our contract partners, we held a constructive meeting today to discuss the concerns raised by a number of MEH workers on site.” “The project is committed to resolving the outstanding issues as soon as possible, whilst construction continued as normal today.”
