A successful crowdfunding effort will allow 30 people from Nihon Hidankyo, an atomic bombing survivors’ group, to travel to Oslo to collect its Nobel Peace Prize nearly 80 years after the weapons were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The group representing hibakusha (atomic bomb victims) raised more than 37.2 million yen (£195,500), far exceeding its goal of 10 million yen to send the large delegation to the ceremony on December 10.
