This has been an incredibly busy year for Stop the War, and as we approach the new year there’s little that indicates 2025 will be any different.
Earlier this week the head of Britain’s armed forces said we face a new world order in which the ‘stability’ of the Cold War era is being replaced by an era of global conflict. Our military and political elites believe the answer to this instability is greater militarisation, more arms and more weapons. But more weapons is not the recipe for peace, and from Europe to the Middle East to the Asia-Pacific turmoil and conflict are growing.
We urgently need to build our movement to counter the looming threat of war around the globe. To do so we need your help.
The Middle East is on fire, Netanyahu is busy stoking the flames, while Starmer and Biden look on. They continue to arm Israel in full knowledge that doing so makes them complicit in genocide. They have no plan for peace. They have pushed the Ukraine war to the brink of a nuclear catastrophe and compound instability in the Asia-Pacific by increased militarisation in the region.
The new year is less than a month away and we need to be prepared for whatever 2025 brings. It is imperative we reach our appeal target before the year ends. We are not far off our £60,000 goal; please keep giving so that we can keep working to build a strong anti-war movement and face the challenges ahead.
