Japan will abandon its policy of reducing dependence on nuclear power plants, which has been maintained since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in 2011, and switch to making the most of it. According to the Yomiuri Shimbun on the 12th, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to delete the expression “reducing dependence as much as possible” on nuclear power plants and specify that they “make the most of it.” Given that securing decarbonized energy sources through nuclear power plants as well as renewable energy is directly related to economic growth, it is clear that renewable energy and nuclear power plants are used together to the fullest.
