Write to Barclays senior management

Posted: 10th January 2025

This new year, we step up our pressure on Barclays, which continues to bankroll Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.

Barclays has an agreement with Israel to act as a ‘primary dealer’ for its government bonds. This means it helps Israel raise money to fund its genocide.

Click the link below to send our new letter to Barclays’ senior management, to let them know you’ll be continuing to boycott the bank while it is complicit in Israel’s crimes.

This Saturday, 11 January, PSC branches across Britain will be taking action at dozens of Barclays branches as part of a boycott Barclays day of action. It’s crucial we all do our part, and show Barclays the strength of our movement. Click the link below to find your local action.

Government bonds are “IOUs” issued by a government to borrow money to support its spending.

Selling bonds provides the Israeli government with money to fund its genocide against Palestinians.

By acting as a ‘primary dealer’ Barclays buys Israel’s government bonds and sells them on to investors. Barclays is the only UK headquartered bank that plays this role.

This is on top of Barclays bankrolling of arms companies supplying Israel with weapons for its assault on Palestinians. The bank invests over £2billion and provides loans worth £6.1billion to nine companies arming Israel.

The bank’s shameful complicity must end. Take action by writing to Barclays senior management today, and by joining your local boycott Barclays action on Saturday.

Finally, if you’re still a Barclays (or Barclays-owned Tesco Bank) customer, pledge to close your account on the next mass account closure day, 23 January. We’ll send you all the information you need.

Yours sincerely,

Lewis
