Tomorrow's march - latest information

Posted: 17th January 2025

After 15 months of genocide in Gaza, a long-awaited and much needed ceasefire deal is expected to begin on Sunday. CND and the rest of the Palestine Coalition share the immense relief expressed by Palestinians that the daily and colossal loss of life could soon come to an end. However at the time of writing, the Israeli cabinet is still yet to ratify the deal and Palestinians continue to be killed by Israeli military action since news of a ceasefire deal broke on Wednesday.

An end to the bombing is a start but we need to keep up the pressure. Israel needs to lift its siege of Gaza and allow in the quantities of humanitarian aid needed. The ceasefire needs to be permanent. The decades of oppression of Palestinian people must end. Join us tomorrow, Saturday 18 January, for a rally on Whitehall to remember the thousands of victims and to demand that Britain does its part to ensure this ceasefire is a success.

We also ask protesters to bring flowers, toys, or children’s shoes which will be laid down symbolically as part of the demonstration.

  • Saturday, 18 January
  • Assemble 12 noon, Whitehall, London
  • Latest details will be posted to our event page here

The Met Police has spent this week attempting to impose various restrictions to prevent this demonstration from taking place – including an announcement that the demonstration would form up at Russell Square. This is something that we have never expressed any intention of doing, and the police have now accepted that they cannot force us to go to Russell Square. Assembly and rally will take place on Whitehall only. Please share this information widely.
