Tower Hamlets Council voted to divest its pension fund from arms companies enabling Israel’s crimes against Palestinians

The decision by Tower Hamlets Council comes just days after Bristol City Council voted to call on Avon Pension Fund to divest from companies supplying Israel with weapons, and companies doing business in Israel’s illegal settlements.  

We must keep the pressure up on all local councils to end their financial ties to companies enabling Israel’s abuses of Palestinian rights. Use our new e-action to write to your councillors and demand they take action.

Tower Hamlets Council is the fourth London council to commit to begin divestment from companies enabling Israel’s grave violations of Palestinian rights. Local campaigns will continue to ensure the councils abide by their commitments.

Our divestment campaigning remains urgent: Palestinians in Gaza continue to face the devastating conditions created by 15 months of genocide. Across the occupied West Bank, Israel continues its military attacks, with 10 Palestinians killed this week in a major assault on Jenin refugee camp. Over 10,000 Palestinians remain in Israeli detention – whether its prisons or its military detention camps in Gaza – facing torture and ill-treatment.

We must continue to escalate our campaigning to break the ties of complicity between Britain and Israel’s apartheid regime.  

Use our new e-action to write to your councillors and demand they support the divestment of Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds from companies enabling Israel’s crimes, such as arms companies supplying Israel with weapons, and companies active in Israel’s illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land.
