Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament

Support CND’s legal challenge over the safety risks of siting US nukes in Britain.

Deadly US nuclear weapons could now be deployed in Britain. Yet our government is refusing to say what is going on – hiding behind a wall of nuclear secrecy. Shockingly still, through our team of lawyers, CND has now uncovered more nuclear dangers about RAF Lakenheath.

Investigations by our legal team indicate that there are no emergency plans in place in the event of nuclear accidents involving these new US B61-12 bombs.

This means the British government, without any public consultation or parliamentary debate, is making us all a target and putting us at risk from nuclear accidents without any emergency plans in place.

So, we’re launching a legal challenge against both the Suffolk County Council and the Secretary of State for Defence. We’re arguing that if these nuclear bombs are at Lakenheath, the Council and the Ministry of Defence could be in breach of their statutory obligations under emergency radiation regulations.

We need your help to raise £6,000 to cover these legal costs.

These US B61-12 US nuclear bombs are described as ‘battlefield’ nuclear weapons and are designed to be used in war. With the risk of nuclear war growing, we have to do everything possible to stop the deployment of these bombs.

This legal challenge is a vital way to help us raise awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons, to stop their use and secure greater parliamentary and public scrutiny.

Can you help?

In peace,
