The struggle is far from over – March for Palestine 15th February

The Peace Pledge Union – along with everyone committed to peace – has welcomed the ceasefire in Israel and Gaza. We desperately hope it brings an end to the slaughter and destruction of Gaza, the return of hostages, as well as the safety and stability to allow humanitarian relief and rebuilding.

But a ceasefire was never more than a first step. The war has turned Gaza into a desert of rubble and unexploded munitions. With at least 2% of the population killed, those who survive face starvation, homelessness, injury and trauma.

The ceasefire, limited as it is, hangs by a thread. Donald Trump’s new ‘plan’ – disguising ethnic cleansing as real estate development – is only the latest setback, after attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and continuing violence in southern Lebanon.

Trump’s remarks, though outlandish, will be familiar to Palestinians who have been accustomed for decades to the racist denial of their rights, identity and claim to the land. We must continue to do all we can to push for peace, as well as for justice and a permanent end to the occupation and apartheid.

Please join us on the next national demonstration from Whitehall to the US Embassy, to say no to ethnic cleansing and keep up the pressure for a lasting ceasefire.

Assemble at 12 noon, Saturday 15 February on Whitehall before marching to the US embassy.
