Malaysia becomes the 47th state party to ratify the UN Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

This is a landmark United Nations accord to outlaw nuclear arms and establish a legal framework for their abolition.

 This is just three ratifications shy of the threshold of 50 required for its entry into force.

It will take effect 90 days after the 50th ratification is deposited.
