Teresa Ribera,
Executive Vice-President responsible for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition (including the Green Deal) and
Dan Jørgensen,
Commissioner for Energy and Housing.
The NFLAs partner organisation, Cities for a Nuclear Free Europe, joined with more than 40 anti-nuclear groups in co-signing a supportive letter to two new European Commissioners. In December 2024, a new European Commission started its work. Two newly appointed Commissioners are key to achieving CNFEs goal of a nuclear free Europe, Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice-President responsible for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition (including the Green Deal) and Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing. Both had taken a critical position towards new nuclear projects in Europe. In addition to offering support, the letter also outlines proposals on how to facilitate an energy transition without the use of nuclear power. The co-signatories are convinced that the real solution to the climate crisis can be found in energy saving, energy efficiency and in renewable energy, and not in new nuclear.
