Demonstration in Barrow Cumbria UK where BAE Systems are building Trident nuclear armed submarines

It was late in the evening when I got home. We leafletted and gave out leaflets in the town of Barrow. Often from people who work at BAE Systems people dismissal and hostility, but not from everyone   – some actually read the leaflets! And there was also press interest as the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, had visited two days before praising BAE Systems which manufactures the nuclear powered, nuclear capable Trident submarines. Trident is integrated into NATO and our Prime minister is a big supporter of NATO. Starmer the warmonger! Although it was quite a small gathering peace activists had come from Scotland in the north and Plymouth in the south west where in Devonport the Trident submarines are refurbished. My friend spotted in a window in Barrow a recruiting poster for work on the nuclear-powered submarines which the UK is sending to Australia in the AUKUS deal ie Australia, the UK and the USA. It claimed that BAE Systems were working to make the world a more stable and peaceful place!
