Do you think it’s okay for 50,000 people, mostly women and children, to be killed? For life-saving aid to be blocked and aid workers to be killed? And for the UK and US to arm a government led by someone wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity? [1-5]
We don’t. That’s why activists have just taken a stand and dyed the US Embassy pond blood red. Can you join these activists taking a stand and call on the UK to stop arming the Israeli government?
We’ve turned the US Embassy pond red to remind the world that the blood of tens of thousands of dead Palestinian civilians flows from the rubble-filled streets of Gaza directly to Washington and London.
The United States is the biggest exporter of arms to the Israeli military, fuelling the unfolding genocide. Schools, hospitals and refugee camps have been targeted. And now Israel is seizing large parts of Gaza. [6,7,8] The Hamas attacks 18 months ago were horrific – Israel’s response goes far beyond self defence, this is catastrophic and completely disproportionate. And the UK and the US government has allowed this to happen.
Last year the UK government suspended 30 out of 350 arms licenses to the Israeli government due to a ‘clear risk’ of their use violating international law. [9] And just in the last few weeks, the UK Foreign Minister has raised the same concerns AGAIN. [10]
It’s clear that our government knows this is wrong. 70% of Israelis want Netanyahu to resign and want a ceasefire and hostages to be returned. [11] European nations like France and Spain have suspended arms sales to Israel – the UK must finally do the right thing to help stop this horrific situation. [12] Can you join these activists taking a stand against the killing and call on the UK government to stop sending arms to Israel?
Peace is in our name – that’s why we’re taking action today. Greenpeace grew from a small anti-war group formed in 1971. We believe that peace is a precondition for environmental protection. In 2022, we took action and called on the UK government to stop buying Russian gas and help stop the war in Ukraine. In 2003, we also stood against the Iraq war. [13,14] It’s clear the UK and US are fuelling war crimes – we have to take a stand again.
We hope we have your support.
In love, solidarity and hope,
Anthony

P.S. If you want to do more to help stop the killing, can you also email Keir Starmer directly and demand he stop sending arms to Israel – and urge the US government to do the same?
P.P.S The red dye we used is harmless, food-grade and biodegradable that is made to be used in ponds.
