Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament

Dear CND groups,

Stop US nukes coming to Britain: join the protest
The Lakenheath Alliance for Peace camp has had a fantastic first few days! And with over a week of brilliant activities still to go, we hope many CND groups can join in. This action is particularly important after CND forced the Ministry of Defence to declassify a document showing that all visiting forces to the UK are exempt from radiation regulations! Thank you to everyone who donated towards the legal costs.

We would like to particularly draw your attention to the international conferencetaking place next Thursday 24th April and the blockade of the base taking place on Saturday 26th April.

The international conference has speakers including retired US colonel Ann Wright, Jeju island campaigner Sung-Hee Choi, Japanese peace campaigner Koichi Toyoshima and Demetrios Hadjidemetirou from Cyprus. The full day’s conference, running from 9:30am to 5:30pm, is in-person, so you can meet these fantastic activists face-to-face! It takes place at West Row Village Hall, Chapel Road, West Row IP28 8NY. The nearest train station is Bury St Edmunds. For more information on how to get there click here.

Invest in Peace not Nukes – CND’s bases tour: next stop Devonport

The next stop for our nuclear bases tour is Devonport on Saturday 7th June. It follows last month’s protest at Barrow, where Britain’s nuclear submarines are made. Our demonstration was very effective, receiving good media coverage and a positive reception from local residents. The next stop in CND’s bases tour will be at Devonport, where the submarines are serviced.

We will be assembling in Plymouth, where the dockyard is situatedon June 7th to continue our call for the government to invest in peace not nuclear weaponsI know local CND activists will really appreciate the support from other groups, so please let me know if you can make it and if you will be coordinating transport.

Have a lovely Easter weekend all!

Very best wishes,
