Statement on US Attack on Iran
We firmly denounce the U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and call for an immediate end to the lawless act.
I. On June 21, the U.S. Trump administration carried out large-scale air strikes against three major nuclear facilities in Iran. We strongly condemn the attack as an outrageous act that violates international law and the UN Charter.
I. The issue of Iran’s nuclear development had already been discussed for a long time by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the countries concerned, and the United States. The current attack is a violent destruction of that process. The attack on nuclear facilities is a violation of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, and may cause nuclear contamination to nearby residents and cross-border areas. We urge you to immediately stop the barbaric attacks on nuclear facilities.
I. The government of Japan, the only country to have suffered from the atomic bombings during wartime and to have committed to renunciation of war in Article 9 of the Constitution, should stop being subservient to the US and call the US to respect the UN Charter and international law.
