London CND was shocked to hear that Jeremy Corbyn had been suspended from the Labour Party, and our committee issued the statement below.
“Jeremy Corbyn has been a member of the London Region Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament for many years. He has worked with us and spoken at London CND events on numerous occasions. He has been supportive of all those he has been in contact with, irrespective of race, religion, or culture. On this basis we find accusations that Jeremy Corbyn is anti-Semitic or that he has tolerated anti-Semitism in others to be incredible.”
London CND Vice President Bruce Kent, who lives in Jeremy’s constituency, lost no time responding via the London media.
Dear Editor
I have known Jeremy Corbyn for many years. Our church is in his constituency and he frequently comes to social and community fundraising events. Never in all those years have I heard from him one anti-semitic, or racist remark about any other community. He has however often been critical of aspects of Israeli government behaviour. If this is a new definition of what constitutes anti-semitism then I must be guilty too, alongside many of my Jewish friends.
Yours, Bruce Kent
