Help Us Fund the Fight for Peace

On this Armistice day we remember all those who have died in wars across the world, and also all those who continue to die today – especially in wars in which Britain is culpable – in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen.

As our military and political leaders put on the show of mourning, there are currently thousands of British forces posted around the world, including 1,000 in Afghanistan and more than 1,000 in other Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq and Saudi Arabia. But for all its acts of remembrance our government fails to bring them home.

The UK continues to sell weapons of war for vast profit. Since 2015 we have sold £10 billion worth to the world’s most oppressive regimes.

On Remembrance Sunday General Sir Nick Carter, Chief of the Defence Staff, used the occasion to campaign for increases to the budget military for investment in high-tech killing machines – he wants an army of 30,000 “robot soldiers” to expand the UK’s remote killing capabilities. Remembrance week should be a time for dignified mourning, to use it for the promotion of war and the military is obscene.

It is against this wall of propaganda that Stop the War campaigns. To do so we need your help: to expand our readership, our activist base and our membership. It is imperative that the voices of peace are heard above the voices of war.

November 11th was never intended as a celebration of war – but a day in which we remember the devastation war brings and in which we say ‘never again’ – we can and we must say no to war.

Please help us sustain our movement and maintain a strong voice of opposition to the disasters of foreign intervention.

We know that times are tough, but if you are able to give even a small amount it would help us fund the fight against war and build our campaign for peace.
