Emergency actions: Gaza is being starved to death by Israel

Posted: 24th July 2025

I write to you with a deep sense of anger and urgency. The situation in the Gaza Strip is more dire than it has ever been, with Palestinians enduring unimaginable new levels of violence, cruelty, and mass starvation. Take action near you on Friday and write to the Foreign Secretary today.

The stories we’re hearing and witnessing are unbearable. Malnutrition is now killing Palestinians faster than at any point in the 21-month onslaught against Gaza. The entire population is on the brink of death from starvation, with doctors collapsing from hunger and exhaustion as they try to care for the overwhelming number of sick and injured.

Nearly 1000 Palestinians have been massacred since May as they desperately try to get aid from supposed distribution points, which have been labelled as “sadistic death traps” by UNRWA’s Commissioner General.

This Friday we will be taking emergency action in London and in towns and cities across Britain. At 6pm we’ll be laying empty cooking pots outside Keir Starmer’s Downing Street door, we need at least 1000 to represent every Palestinian killed while queuing for food in Gaza.

The British government’s response this week has been nothing short of disgraceful, offering words of condemnation without any meaningful action to end its complicity in Israel’s genocide.

Palestinians are asking for solidarity not charity. Above all, they need us to hold the government to the most basic ethical standard of “do no harm”.

Please add your name to the thousands of others writing to David Lammy today, and join an emergency action near you on Friday.
