Palestine Solidarity Campaign update

Since I last wrote to you, the horrifying situation in Gaza has deteriorated even further. 123 people have now been killed by Israel’s campaign of mass starvation, with these numbers now set to soar.
Yesterday we laid 1,000 pots outside Downing Street, for the more than 1,000 people killed seeking food while being deliberately starved.
We urgently need to step up and expand our campaigns in every arena to help stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Peter, please – if you can – make a donation today:
Last week armed officers from Kent Police were filmed threatening a Palestine activist with arrest simply for holding a Palestine flag and a sign saying ‘Israel is committing genocide’. These chilling attacks on our right to protest and freedom of speech are escalating as the government feels the pressure of those calling out their complicity.
But that activist refused to be silenced. She spoke out and encouraged others to join us at last Saturday’s march to Downing Street – because she knows that the best way to protect our right to protest is to use it.
And alongside thousands of us lining the streets of Whitehall we were able to tell Keir Starmer that the story is not us, the story is Gaza. And so long as our government is supplying the arms used to kill tens of thousands of Palestinian men, women and children, we will not be going anywhere.

Just last week alone, local campaigning by PSC branches has led to 4 more councils supporting the divestment of hundreds of millions of pounds of their pension fund investments from companies enabling Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians.
Cardiff, Lewisham, Wakefield and Norwich have now joined 12 other local councils in passing motions supporting divestment from companies complicit in Israel’s genocide, and underlying regime of settler-colonialism, military occupation and apartheid.
We know that international support is crucial for Israel to continue its genocide and its systems of occupation and apartheid over the Palestinian people, so every victory we can achieve in this country to chip away at Israel’s impunity is vital.
