The links between the civil nuclear and defence nuclear sectors have been made explicit by the UK government in its Industrial Strategy.
An academic has told NCE that this makes clear that the UK’s pursuit of nuclear power has always been about progressing its defence nuclear capabilities.
The Industrial Strategy, published on 23 June, promises a raft of benefits for high growth potential industrial operators in the UK. …
The document highlights the fact that the UK was the first nation to deploy civil nuclear reactors and is a leading host of nuclear propulsion and weapons capabilities for the defence sector.
