What we are witnessing in Gaza is a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing carried out with impunity by Israel. Israel has also become the deadliest country in the world for journalists, with more than 270 journalists and media workers killed since October 2023. This is not self defence. It is a part of a strategy to silence eyewitnesses, control the narrative and erase evidence of war crimes.
Across Europe, including the UK, our governments are not just watching – they are complicit. Billions are being poured into arming Israel and ramping up defence budgets under the banner of security while those calling for peace and justice are criminalised. Only last Saturday, 474 were arrested, most of them elderly people, for peacefully protesting in support of banned group Palestine Action.
But we will not be silenced and we are more determined than ever to fight back.
