International Day of Peace

Posted: 21st August 2025

More than ever, with wars escalating despite huge public opposition, with military spending skyrocketing in the name of exactly what it violates (democracy), with the rule of law under severe strain, we need to make a huge showing for peace with all variety of nonviolent actions and cultural events on the International Day of Peace, September 21, 2025.

Here are events you can join, and resources you can use to support those events or to organize new ones.

September 21 is the International Day of Peace, first celebrated in 1982 and recognized annually by many nations and organizations, including day-long pauses in wars that reveal how easy it would be to have year-long or forever-long pauses in wars.

This is a good day on which to work for permanent peace and to remember the victims of war.

We’ve developed a wide variety of resources, to make it easy for you to take part in or to create an impactful event.

Check it out!

Thank you for all you do!
