Tomorrow, we’re holding protests at Barclays branches across Britain. Will you join your local action?

As Israel continues to intensify its genocide, beginning a major offensive to further ethnically cleanse and occupy Gaza City, we must ramp up our action targeting the corporations that enable and profit from it.

Earlier today, we disrupted Barclays’ high-street branches with sit-ins to show the bank that there can be no business-as-usual while it facilitates and profits from Israel’s atrocities. Watch footage from our London sit-in below.

Barclays is a ‘primary dealer’ of Israel government bonds, meaning that it has a direct agreement with Israel to help it to sell bonds to raise money to fund the cost of its genocide in Gaza, and military assaults in the West Bank.

The bank also provides billions of pounds worth of investment and loans to companies providing Israel with weapons used to commit its atrocities. This helps these businesses grow and produce more machinery of death and destruction.

Last year, we reported that Barclays withdrew its investment in one of the weapons companies it held shares in, Elbit Systems, before later reinvesting a much smaller amount. Latest figures show the bank has now invested more money in Elbit Systems, holding shares worth around £700,000. Barclays has invested yet more money in a company providing Israel with weaponry that is essential to carry out its genocide.

We must continue to ramp up the pressure on the bank. Join your local action at a Barclays branch tomorrow (23 August)
