End financial support for nuclear weapons – Don't Bank on the Bomb!

Hiroshima Appeal 2025

Dear friend,

This August, the lessons of the past are more urgent than ever. While people across the globe continue to suffer from the impacts of militarised violence, the UK government’s focus remains on increasing military spending – including new investment in apocalyptic nuclear weapons – rather than addressing the needs of the people.

There can be no meaningful medical intervention when a nuke hits. Medical services would be decimated. Hundreds of thousands killed instantly. And that’s just the start. The only solution is to end nuclear weapons, before they end us!

Donate to Medact’s 2025 Hiroshima Appeal today will help us advocate for a future rooted in care, not nuclear missiles.

At Medact, our main campaign to help win this future is Don’t Bank on the Bomb! UK. Despite the ever increasing threat of nuclear weapons to human life on earth, billions of pounds flow through UK banks, pension funds, and other financial institutions that invest in companies producing them, bringing us closer to unmitigated annihilation.

Medact’s Nuclear Weapons Group is spearheading this campaign to build a nationwide movement that pressures banks and financial institutions to withdraw this material support for the nuclear weapons industry. We are demanding that they move their money away from companies that manufacture and trade in weapons of mass destruction.

Donate today to help us build this movement!

We know the risks of nuclear war are rising – and we need your help to challenge it. Together, we can build a world rooted in solidarity and care, not in weapons of mass destruction.

Thank you for your continued support.

In solidarity,
Anna Peiris (she/her)
Executive Director
