Global Day of Education to Close Bases

Join us at the main gates of NSA/NRO Menwith Hill on Saturday 4th October 2025 from 4 pm to 5 pm:  a peaceful presence will support the global call to close foreign military bases. On this day actions around the world will call for foreign military bases to be closed and raise awareness of the problems associated with foreign military bases.

  
The call to close foreign military bases is being coordinated by World Beyond War.

The United States has 877 foreign military bases, the UK has 117, Turkey has 133 and Russia has 29. Other countries have smaller numbers of foreign military bases.

Keep Space for Peace

Join us on Tuesday 7th October from 6  pm to 7.30 pm at the main gate of Menwith Hill as part of Keep Space for Peace Week, coordinated by the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space.

Please bring suitable banners or posters. The theme is ‘Golden Dome’ for which contracts are already being issued as part of the on-going US national missile defense program (NMD).   A co-ordinator of space-based interceptors has recently been announced.

And finally, a call to action from Pine Gap US surveillance base in Australia.  Pine Gap protesters face court over highlighting the base’s role in genocide in Gaza.  

 ”The antiwar activists conducted their initial action blocking the road into Pine Gap in October 2023. The second action was spurred by revelations in Declassified Australia that involved an ex-Pine Gap employee underscoring that intelligence from the secretive US base is definitely making its way across the planet to Israel. Indeed, three of Pine Gap’s four satellites completely cover the Gaza Strip.”

Pine Gap is Menwith Hill’s counterpart on the other side of the world. Menwith Hill downloads intelligence from the same group of satellites, including coverage of the Middle East. We understand they even seem to share the same satellite at times, with Pine Gap controlling it and then handing over to Menwith.
