Saturday's London protest

Posted: 12th October 2025

Yesterday saw a massive demonstration in central London when over 600,000 took to the streets in solidarity with Palestine. The mood was both celebratory and determined. As Jeremy Corbyn said at the rally, “We are a global movement for Palestine, and we are never ever going away.”

For the last two years StW has been one of the main organising groups protesting against Israel’s genocide. Although the peace deal brings welcome relief, we know it does not bring justice for the Palestinians and is unlikely to bring long-term peace to the Middle East. So we keep going.

But organising on this scale for so many months is expensive. To continue we need your help. This is why we are asking you to donate to our Winter Appeal. We aim to raise £75,000 by the end of the year – a very challenging target, but we need every penny we can get.

Throughout this year we have also campaigned against Trump’s attack on Iran, against NATO’s spending hikes and the war economy being pushed by Starmer and his Labour government. The anti-war movement has been busy.

Just last weekend StW played an important role in an international peace conference in Paris, where delegates from across Europe and beyond came together to fight the rising tide of militarism across the continent and the genocide in Gaza. In June 2026 we will be holding a similar conference in London.

We urgently need to keep building our movement and our Welfare not Warfare campaign – to do so we need your help.

We are also facing unprecedented restrictions on our ability to protest. Two of the leaders of StW are facing criminal prosecution for taking part in a peaceful Palestine protest in January this year. On each demonstration we hold restrictions are placed on the routes, times and duration – even the banging of pots and pans symbolising Israel’s starvation policy was proscribed.

Now the government is cynically using the Manchester synagogue attack as a means to further curtail our democratic rights – we urgently need to build our right to protest campaign. Please give what you can.

However small your donation it makes a difference. Together we can build a bigger and stronger anti-war movement.
