Some good news courtesy of Abingdon Peace Group

Dear Peace Group supporters,

Last night I watched a powerful webinar which featured 4 strong women, all involved in their own ways with resisting the genocide in Gaza. It is well worth watching, and features among others, Sahar Vardi, the young Israeli draft-resister who was our speaker at one of our first online Peace Group meetings, back in 2020 during lockdown., and now still actively resisting. The link is below in the email from Nonviolence International and here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFhlq4fDxb8

Another piece of positive news last week is that the “Lay Down Your Arms Peace Prize”, the Swedish alternative Nobel Prize, was awarded last week to Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories. She has been fearlessly opposing the genocide.
 .
And the 3rd piece of good news is that last week the TUC Congress voted to oppose defence spending and support investment in public services. Sanity is breaking out! https://demilitarize.org.uk/tuc-votes-to-oppose-defence-spending-and-support-investment-in-public-services/

Let us hope that the peace process in Gaza continues and develops.
