In the last few weeks over 100 journalists, MPs, campaigners – and more than 5,800 readers like you – signed our open letter calling on parliamentary authorities to review the decision to reject our application for a parliamentary pass. Today we handed that letter in.
Thank you to everyone who signed this letter, in turn taking a stand to defend press freedom.
It comes after officials blocked Declassified from holding a press pass, citing the “particular standpoint” of our investigations. They even flagged a recent article about the risk of pro-Israel bias in Westminster.
Meanwhile, nearly 500 journalists have access to parliament, including many from right-wing outlets.
This is not just about us. It’s about the right to independent, critical journalism in Britain. Something that is needed now more than ever, and is becoming increasingly restricted.
We are fighting this publicly and without compromise. Can you chip in to support fearless, uncompromised journalism?
Your support powers our investigations. On war, surveillance, corruption, and more, stories few others dare to cover.
Parliament hoped this would go away quietly. It won’t. The signatures we received show us that we have thousands of dedicated supporters backing us.
If you value our important work, please consider donating today. Even a small donation makes a big difference.
Thank you for standing with us,
Martin.
