Tomorrow, we’re holding protests at Barclays branches across Britain to demand that the bank stops enabling Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians. Will you join your local action?
Find your local actionOver the past few days, Israel has killed scores of Palestinians in Gaza, despite the ceasefire agreement. It continues to restrict much needed aid, including through the closure of the main Rafah crossing.
In the West Bank, Israel maims and kills Palestinians every day through its military invasions of towns and refugee camps. Armed settlers continue to burn down Palestinian homes and olive trees, in coordination with the military.
Barclays is helping Israel raise money to fund these crimes. It is a ‘primary dealer’ of Israel government bonds, meaning that it has a direct agreement with Israel to help it to sell bonds to fund the cost of its militarised violence.
The bank also provides billions of pounds worth of investment and loans to companies providing Israel with its arsenal of weaponry used to commit its atrocities.
Our Palestinian partners are asking us to ramp up our campaigns targeting the corporations that enable the oppression that they face. They tell us that the most effective way we can show solidarity with their struggle for freedom is to continue to build campaigns to end the complicity of our governments, corporations and public bodies in Israel’s regime of oppression.

Find your local actionOn Thursday, West Midlands Police banned Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from attending their team’s match against Aston Villa next month. This can only be understood in the context of these fans’ proven track record of committing racist violence in the cities hosting their team’s games, and the club’s involvement in Israel’s apartheid regime.
Starmer’s criticism of the ban shows that he expects Birmingham residents to tolerate racist incitement, and expects the police to provide cover for it. He has no regard for Palestinian safety, whether in Palestine or here in Britain.
We must continue to demand that the match is cancelled. Allowing Israeli football teams to compete in international competitions sanitises its horrific atrocities against Palestinians, and allows Israel to cynically present itself as a normal country, obscuring the truth of its oppression of Palestinians.
Calls for Israel to be banned from international football are building momentum. Take action by writing to the FA, UEFA and Aston Villa to demand that the match does not go ahead.
Demand they cancel the matchIn solidarity,
Lewis
