Palantir – the spy-tech company – is increasing its grip on our NHS data
Palantir’s owner Peter Thiel says that the ‘NHS makes people sick’ and that it should be privatised. He also said that the British attachment to the NHS was a ‘form of Stockholm Syndrome’.

Palantir offering NHS staff AI and data apprenticeships

Palantir to partner with Multiverse to offer AI and data apprenticeships to NHS staff
Programme will be “FDP-specific”
AI and data apprenticeships intended to increase uptake of the national Federated Data Platform are to be rolled out to NHS staff in the new year.
The “FDP-specific” apprenticeship programmes are the resultof a partnership between Palantir, the US supplier of the platform, and the Euan Blair-founded AI and digital upskilling firm Multiverse.
NHS England recently stepped up its efforts to mandate the use of the FDP across the health system with the publication of the Medium Term Planning Framework, which set out the target for all NHS providers to be using the FDP’s “core products” by April 2026.
At present, 150 hospital trusts have agreed to use the FDP eventually, while 77 trusts are actively using products. All integrated care boards except for Greater Manchester have also agreed to use the platform.
Louis Mosley, executive vice president of Palantir UK and Europe, said it was time “to double down to keep driving up the number of NHS staff who are trained on the technology”, and that “this partnership will be central to that”.
Founder and CEO of Multiverse Euan Blair said: “To truly unlock the power of the NHS Federated Data Platform, the NHS needs a workforce that is confident and skilled in using data and AI.
“This partnership isn’t just about implementing new technology, it’s about investing in the people who will use it every day to make a tangible difference to patient care. We’re proud to be a part of this crucial step in the NHS’s digital evolution, deepening our existing relationship with the NHS.”
It is not known how much the US firm, one of the world’s most valuable, is contributing to the scheme.
The chief data and analytical officer network (CDAON), which represents data leaders across the NHS, has previously been cautious about the FDP and attempts to “impose” it on trusts.
However, the network said that it “welcomes all training for analysts in all forms”, and that as Multiverse is “platform agnostic”, the apprenticeships should allow staff to develop generic AI and data skills that can be used with any system.
NHSE has been approached for comment.
